Another game in the Yu-Gi-Oh series, The Duelists of the Roses is a game on the PS2 which is in a slight way based on a real event being the Wars of the Roses.
The game starts off on the shores of England. Wielding the White Rose cards (totaling 8), C. Seto Rosenkreuz and his Rose Crusaders make an attempt to stop the Lancastrian invaders. The invaders, however, have their own power in the form of the Red Rose Cards. Utilizing their powers to try and swing the tide of battle, Henry "Yugi" Tudor and his men summon the Rose Duelist at Stonehenge. This is in vain, however, as Seto reveals he knows the ancient incantation to send the Rose Dualist back and offers them the chance to surrender.
 Story Mode
In this game you have the choice of picking either faction to join, those of the White Rose Card or those of the Red Rose Cards. Each choice leads to a different set of opponents and each has a different ending. Both paths end with the same battle, however, against one Manawyddan fab Llyr. Manawyddan fab Llyr is a Card Guardian from Stonehenge whom appears once all 16 Rose Cards have been brought there. Once this is done, Seto makes another unveiling in that his family once made a pact centuries ago with a Card Guardian and hoped that this was indeed the one. After the defeat of Manawyddan fab Llyr by the Rose Duelist, Seto makes an escape as the story became history, but never forgotten.
Despite holding many of the core rules of the Yu-Gi-Oh game, The Duelists of the Roses contains a lot of unique features. For starters there is no Life Points, instead you have a Deck Leader whom acts in their place and is also the one who does the playing of the cards. More like a chess game, the Deck Leader may only place cards on the tiles around him and monsters must move in order to destroy others and take life points. Alternatively, you also have the option of surrounding your enemy's Deck Leader with monsters so that he may not play any cards, ultimately losing the game.
The characters in the game are simply those from the anime and manga. They are not themselves entirely, however, but rather the representations of the historical figures themselves.
