A Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament, or YCS for short, is a big tournament that is held once per month in North-America, South-America, Asia or Europe. The YCS tournaments replaced the Shonen Jump Championship Series and lasts for a whole weekend. Next to the main events, small side events are availabale like Win-A-Mat and Attack of a Giant Card allowing you to win a special game mat or a giant version of a card.
The decks that win YCS tournamanets are often Netdecked since people find decks that win these tournaments the best decks available. An YCS tournament also influences card prices with one of the best examples being Maxx "C", Before the card was used in an YCS winning deck it was worth around 5 dollars and now that decks using this card top in these tournaments it's price has easily risen to 80 dollars.
As of March 25 2012, 100 YCS tournaments have been held with the 100th being held in Long Beach, California.
