Satellite is the name of a city in the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. In the past it was Domino City in the Yu-Gi-Oh! original Anime and in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, but since then it has undergone extensive urban decay, and is now merely a plant where the citizens of New Domino City recycle their rubbish. The residents of Satellite are made to work in this plant, and are looked down upon by the residens of new Domino as scum. Satellite residents don't generally have the power to buy goods on the market, and there is no legal class mobility in the city.
The only connection between these two cities is the trash pipeline, which is almost constantly filled with a large flow of rubbish destined for recycling. This is the only feasible way of leaving the Satellite, with a highly specialised branch of Sector Security constantly patrolling to prevent residents from escaping the island and navigating towards New Domino on the mainland.
The very first Ener-D Reactor was found here on Satellite, and because of this, it is where the Dark Signers guard the entrance to the Netherworld. According to Rex Goodwin, this is why there is a small connection between the riches of New Domino and the poverty of Satellite, and it is down to their combined threat. Goodwin tells Yusei Fudo that it is because of the huge catastrophe caused by the Zero Reverse incident that he caused the isolation of New Domino from the original Domino City, so that the Dark Signers could be avoided.
Before the final confrontation between the Signers and their dark counterparts, Yusei asked Rex Goodwin to connect the two cities via the Daedalus Bridge after the Dark Signers are defeated, as there would be no reason for the severance to continue, and Rex Goodwin agrees to the proposal. Despite Rex Goodwin's death as the final Dark Signer after a tumultuous duel with Yusei, a new Daedalus Bridge is constructed in place of the old one. The reconnection brought change to Satellite, with people making the effort to transform its grim appearance. The result is that the atmosphere is also changed, and the old factories that filled the sky above Satellite with black smoke are gone, replaced with new counterparts that keep the sky smoke free. The Satellite also served as a battlefield during Yusei's duel with Aporia, when he changed the direction of his Duel Runner to prevent damage and destruction in New Domino.
 Non-Canon Appearances
Satellite appeared as a major area in the Nintendo DS games Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2009: Stardust Accelerator and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2010: Reverse of Arcadia. In both of these games, in Stardust Accelerator these are the Satellite Slums and the Satellite Residential areas. The Satellite Port and many factories are in the slum area, whilst the hideouts and the Pipeline are in the Residential Area.
