Dorm Switch Exams

Every month, you'll take what's known as the Dorm Switch Exam. This tests your knowledge of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and your dueling ability. Each test is divided into three parts: written, skill, and practical. The better you do, the greater your chances of being offered the chance to move to the next dorm!

The written exam consists of ten multiple choice questions intended to test your knowledge of cards and the rules of the trading card game. You only have a few seconds for each question, so you can't cheat by trying to look the answer up. Getting a right answer will earn you ten points, while missing a question by either getting it wrong or not answering in time gets you no points. If you get a wrong answer, the right answer will not be shown, so do your homework and get the questions right!

The skill exam consists of a dueling puzzle. You're given a field situation and hand and you have to figure out how to win the duel in one turn. If you have to let your opponent make a move before winning, you fail the exam. There's always a solution, even if it seems impossible. One thing that gives you an advantage in these duels is that you can see everything. You can look at your opponent's hand, facedown cards, and even both players' decks. Use this to your advantage when you're analyzing the possibilities.

The practical exam is an actual duel with your own deck from the very beginning. There are certain requirements that you have to meet a certain number of times for each one, though. Some score you based on your performance during the battle phase, others score you based on your spell and/or trap usage. Pay attention to the proctor before the exam begins and take the chance to edit your deck if you need to before you start to make sure you do well in your scoring!
