DUELIST BIOGRAPHIES
The following is a list of duelists you meet in the game. Clicking on a duelist's name will open up their biography page for the game where you can see a brief bit of information about him/her and the deck that duelist uses in the game.
Jaden Yuki
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
The main character of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime and friend of Syrus Truesdale and Chumley Huffington, Jaden never turns down a duel. Known in the game as the "ace of Slifer Red," Jaden uses a deck that revolves around the Elemental Heroes and Skyscraper, much like in the anime. However, he also has quite a few extra cards in the game that you will never see him use if you watch the anime. Jaden can be a tough opponent to beat, especially if you're using the Fire or Water decks you get at the beginning of the game. The Harpie Lady themed Wind deck, however, makes things a bit easier. Jaden's DeckMonsters: 3 Spear Dragon Spells: 2 Fusion Weapon Traps: 1 A Hero Emerges
Syrus Truesdale
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Jaden's best friend and Zane Truesdale's younger brother, Syrus is a timid duelist with a medium amount of self confidence. His deck primarily focuses on cards known as Vechiroids, which are vehicle-based monsters. He always gets nervous when dueling and has a bad habit of messing up and letting it get to him. Don't let him catch you off guard, though. If you make even one mistake while dueling him, you'll be paying for it in Life Points, especially once Big Core or Steamroid get on the field. Syrus's DeckMonsters: 3 Bokoichi the Freightening Car Spells: 3 Black Pendant Traps: 1 Negate Attack
Chumley Huffington
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Chumley may be an overweight, lazy student who never passes, but don't let the furry Australian creatures in his deck distract you. He loves to use beasts like Des Kangaroo, Des Wombat, and Big Koala, and will even summon the powerful Master of Oz with 4200 attack points if you give him the chance to perform a fusion summon. Luckily, his monsters aren't that strong offensively compared to some of the monsters in your Wind and Fire stock decks until he pulls out Big Koala or Master of Oz, but his beatdown formula will have you running to New Zealand for cover if you let him break through your defenses. Chumley's DeckMonsters: 3 Des Kangaroo Spells: 2 Poison Fangs Traps: 1 Negate Attack
Blair Flannigan
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
A late arrival to Duel Academy, Blair Flannigan prides herself in her use of female monsters. That's right, you will never see her use a male monster in her deck unless she uses one of yours through Snatch Steal. She also uses a few toon monsters, so be careful when dueling her and don't let Toon World stay out for long. She's an easy duelist to miss unlocking, however. You have to stay in Slifer Red until she appears before you change to Ra Yellow or Obelisk Blue or else you'll miss her entirely! Blair's DeckMonsters: 2 Dunames Dark Witch Spells: 1 Malevolent Nuzzler Traps: 2 Stray Lambs
Gerard
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Another latecomer to Duel Academy, Gerard is a duelist who once lost his will to duel after watching a match involving Seto Kaiba. His deck isn't much of anything to worry about unless you have absolutely no clue about what you're doing. Like Blair, he's also an easy duelist to miss and you have to stay in Slifer Red until he appears. He's nothing spectacular, so unless you want to complete the game entirely, he's not really worth your time. Gerard's DeckMonsters: 1 Ancient Brain Spells: 2 Polymerization Traps: 1 Eatgaboon
Brier
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Brier may seem small, shy, and weak, but don't let that influence your opinion of him when dueling him, because he's anything but! Once you enter the Ra Yellow dorm, the new duelists you face are much tougher than the Slifer Reds, and it shows. Brier's deck type of choice is a beatdown deck, although he does have a few deck destruction cards like Needle Worm present. He's unlocked fairly quickly once you enter the Ra Yellow dorm, so you shouldn't have much trouble running into him. Brier's DeckMonsters: 3 D.D. Trainer Spells: 1 Card Destruction Traps: 2 Coffin Seller
Beauregard
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Beauregard's big, and his deck helps him throw his weight around quite a bit. Like Brier, he likes to use a beatdown deck and can be unlocked fairly soon after becoming a Ra Yellow. However, he's not at Duel Academy for dueling. He's studying to become a game designer. His Giant Orc and Goblin Attack Force cards can still put the hurt on you though, even if he is just a game design student. Beauregard's DeckMonsters: 3 Battle Ox Spells: 2 Banner of Courage Traps: 2 Magic Jammer
Bastion Misawa
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
A Ra Yellow genius, Bastion Misawa builds his decks from complex mathematical equations and what he calls quantum duel theory. The game boasts that he uses six decks when you go to send him mail via your PDA, but don't worry too much. The six decks are only swapped out in the anime, meaning you'll get the same deck every time you face him in the game. Bastion can be unlocked as a Slifer Red duelist. Bastion's DeckMonsters: 3 Alpha the Magnet Warrior Spells: 1 Dark Factory of Mass Production Traps: 1 Backup Soldier
Dimitri
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Dimitri prides himself on being a copy duelist. He'll copy the best decks he can find down to the last card and, in some cases, even act like the duelist who made the deck. In the anime, he copies both Dr. Crowler's Ancient Gear Golem deck and steals Yugi's deck that was on display at Duel Academy and even convinces himself that he is the first King of Games. However, Jaden soon proves otherwise. In the game, however, his deck reflects Joey Wheeler's deck with the Red-Eyes Black Dragon more than anything. Dimitri's DeckMonsters: 1 Alligator's Sword Spells: 2 Graceful Dice Traps: 2 Fairy Box
Damon
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Damon never could seem to be able to draw the right cards at the right time... Until he started using a hand advantage deck. Damon loves to keep cards in his hand and get through his deck quickly. Nothing special is really needed to do him in. Just attack his deck with cards like Needle Worm and keep his hand empty with cards like Don Zaloog and you'll be fine. Damon's DeckMonsters: 3 Goblin Calligrapher Spells: 2 Polymerization Traps: 3 Jar of Greed
Torrey
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Dorm : Obelisk Blue
Torrey is into the whole spirit and undead scene, so you can expect his deck to reflect that. In the anime, he and a couple of fellow students summon Jinzo's duel monster spirit. In the game, his deck is practically a replica of Bakura's from the original anime. Torrey's DeckMonsters: 2 Aswan Apparition Spells: 1 The Dark Door Traps: 3 Magic Jammer
Alexis Rhodes
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
One of the top duelists in the school, Alexis and her fairy deck can be tough to beat. As with many of the other duelists, the wind stock deck should be able to do her in easily. Although you meet her early on in the game, you have to achieve the rank of Average Duelist to be able to duel her. Alexis's DeckMonsters: 1 Absorbing Kid From The Sky Spells: 1 Big Bang Shot Traps: 1 Enchanted Javelin
Chazz Princeton
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
The second best duelist in the school and Dr. Crowler's favorite student, Chazz is as arrogant as he is skilled at dueling. His deck's undergone a pretty big overhaul in the game from the anime, however. If you pay attention, you'll notice that he doesn't have the Chthonian Soldier cards and his deck has instead been replaced with zombies and other monsters with undead or corrupted souls. As with Alexis, you meet him early on, but you must be at the Average Duelist rank or better to duel him. Chazz's DeckMonsters: 1 Blood Sucker Spells: 2 Dark Factory of Mass Production Traps: 2 Hidden Soldier
Zane Truesdale
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Syrus's older brother, Zane is Duel Academy's top duelist. Wherever something's going on where a duelist representative from Duel Academy is needed, you can expect to find Zane. He likes to use Cyber Dragons in his deck, which, like Elemental Heroes, have a tendency to rely on fusion monsters to win duels, but unlike Elemental Heroes, keeping one of the Cyber Dragon fusions on the field basically guarantees victory. You can unlock him after chasing Syrus down once you get an e-mail telling you he's acting weird, which could take you a while to get. Take note that your dorm color doesn't matter for unlocking Zane. Zane's DeckMonsters: 3 Battle Footballer Spells: 1 Black Luster Ritual Traps: 1 Fairy Box
Dr. Crowler
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Quite possibly one of the toughest instructors at Duel Academy, Crowler never plays fair when it comes to anyone other than his own precious Obelisk Blue students, but he's especially cruel to Jaden ever since he lost in the anime. You get to meet Crowler early on in the game, but you can't duel him until you reach the rank of Average Duelist. His Ancient Gear Golems can be pretty tough. He also likes to use the card Bottomless Shifting Sand, making your face-up monsters very vulnerable. Crowler's DeckMonsters: 3 Ancient Gear Soldier Spells: 1 Limiter Removal Traps: 3 Bottomless Shifting Sand
Professor Lyman Banner
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
The headmaster of Slifer Red, Professor Banner is one of the first faculty members you'll meet at Duel Academy. He may talk tough, but his cat Pharaoh could probably even beat him in a duel. He uses cards that are fairly common in the first few packs you can find in the game and has no real strategy. Be careful, though, as if you get careless, he could easily fusion summon Gaia the Dragon Champion and start doing a good bit of damage. Otherwise, if it takes you more than one try to beat him, there's something wrong. Banner's DeckMonsters: 1 Aqua Madoor Spells: 1 Axe of Despair Traps: 2 Magic Jammer
Fontaine
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Dorm : Obelisk Blue Faculty
No Yu-Gi-Oh! anime or game is ever complete without Mai Valentine or a Harpie Lady deck. That's where the Obelisk girl's dorm headmistress and Duel Academy gym teacher Fontaine comes in. Her deck is basically Mai's deck from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime with a few tweaks. If you got nervous watching Mai duel in the original anime or in one of the previous games, get ready to relive the rush when dueling Fontaine. Fontaine's DeckMonsters: 2 Birdface Spells: 2 Cyber Shield Traps: 2 Trap Hole
Test Proctor
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Dorm : N/A
You can't back out of dueling this guy. You'll be facing him every month in the Dorm Switch Exams, so you'd better get used to dueling him and have fun doing it or else he'll cause you to fail your practical exam! His deck is reminiscent of Tea's from the original anime in that he loves increasing his own Life Points at the cost of your Life Points, which makes things a little more difficult. Make sure to take out his Nimble Momongas using a method other than battle, especially if Fire Princess is on the field. You don't want him summoning more monsters to knock your Life Points down a few pegs. Proctor's DeckMonsters: 3 Fire Princess Spells: 3 Big Bang Shot Traps: 3 Enchanted Javelin
Chancellor Sheppard
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Chancellor Sheppard is the head of Duel Academy, and with good reason. His deck shares some similarities with Kaiba's, like the obsession with the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, but Sheppard takes a different approach and focuses more on the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. In order to unlock him, you must earn the coveted rank King of Games and then go to the Principal's Office. Sheppard's DeckMonsters: 3 Cyber-Stein Spells: 2 Burst Stream of Destruction Traps: 1 Burst Breath (0.0775499344)
