In some //Yu-Gi-Oh!// video games, you win star chips for beating opponents, which can be put toward new cards. In others, you obtain card parts. Yet still in others, you obtain Duel Points (DP). This is one of the games where you obtain DP. With your Duel Points, you can buy new card packs to enhance your deck or enter numeric passwords for cards from the trading card game, which can be found at the lower left of every card. Some cards cost more DP individually than if you found them randomly in a pack, so think before you buy!

===New Packs===

Every Tuesday, you'll automatically take a trip to the card shop. Every few weeks, a new pack will appear that you can buy. These newer packs have better cards every time, but consequently cost more of your precious DP. Sometimes the owner of the card shop will tell you when there's a new pack available, other times you have to find out yourself. If you ever want a description of what's usually in a pack before you buy it, simply press the start button and the owner will give you a brief description.

===Obtaining DP===

So you want to buy a new pack or buy a card from the password machine but you're a few DP short and you don't know how to obtain DP other than the allowance your parents give you via Professor Banner every month until you reach the Obelisk dorm? Don't sweat it too much. Just go out and duel! That's why they're called Duel Points: You gain them by winning duels. How many DP you earn after winning a duel depends entirely on your actions during a duel and the victory conditions (opponent running out of Life Points, opponent decked out, Exodia was drawn, etc.). The more monsters you destroy in battle and the more damage you inflict to your opponent's Life Points in battle and otherwise, the more Life Points you gain. Losing duels will not affect your DP, so you really have nothing to lose when dueling outside of exams!

Here's a list of factors taken into account and how DP is calculated for each factor:

**Victory - Opponent has no LP:** 100 DP
**Victory - Opponent decked out:** 500 DP
**Victory - Exodia:** 500 DP
**Victory - Final Countdown:** 1000 DP
**Damage dealt to opponent:** Damage dealt / 100
**Damage dealt to opponent in battle:** Damage dealt in battle / 100
**Monsters destroyed in battle:** Number of monsters destroyed x 50
